Golden Knights win Stanley Cup in just their SIXTH SEASON

Finally? The Golden Knights win the Stanley Cup in their SIXTH SEASON with a 9-3 Game 5 victory over the Panthers, fulfilling owner Bill Foley's 2016 pledge to win a title by 2023.

The fact that the Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Florida Panthers 9-3 to win their first Stanley Cup in just five games is remarkable in and of itself.

But the fact that the most recent expansion team did so only six seasons after its inception - something owner Bill Foley predicted in 2016 - is almost unbelievable.

Yes, the Golden Knights raised the Cup in Las Vegas on Tuesday night, a little more than six years after Foley famously promised a title to his new fans.

The biggest star may have been a desert town with a growing population of hockey fans, as right winger Mark Stone dazzled with a hat trick and star center Jack Eichel added a trio of assists.

Less than a year after the Las Vegas Aces won their first WNBA championship, Sin City has risen to prominence in the sports world. Always a mecca for boxing and sportsbooks, Las Vegas now has the NFL's Raiders and an upcoming Formula One race, in addition to ongoing efforts to attract the Oakland A's of Major League Baseball and an NBA expansion franchise.
