Inter Miami CF vs. FC Cincinnati in the US Open Cup Semifinals
Lionel Messi and Inter Miami, who won the Leagues Cup last weekend, are back on the field tonight and in contention for another trophy.
Inter Miami has traveled to face FC Cincinnati in the U.S. Open Cup semifinals, marking Messi's sixth match in 22 days and his eighth game overall since joining the MLS.
Messi, the Argentine World Cup champion and seven-time Ballon d'Or winner, may be getting some much-needed relaxation after scoring 10 goals in his first seven Inter Miami outings. But it's not going to happen tonight.
"We said that at some point he would have to rest because of the load of minutes played," Messi's longtime coach Tata Martino stated Monday.
"Wednesday is clearly not going to be that day." He will continue to play unless he tells me he wants to rest."
