The CBF has announced the location of Brazil's first match in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The technical and logistical prerequisites for staging the game versus Bolivia were met by Mangueiro Stadium in Belém.
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced that the match between Brazil and Bolivia, which will be valid for the 2026 FIFA Men's World Cup qualifiers co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will take place on September 8 at the Olympic Stadium do Pará - Journalist Edgar Proença (Mangueiro) in Belém, in the country's north.
This will be the national team's first game in its quest for classification. The Brazilian men's team last played at Pará in September 2011, when they defeated Argentina 2-0 in the Superclássico das Américas.
Mangueiro now has the status of an arena, with a capacity of 50,000 people, a FIFA-compliant lawn, a security system, new access ramps for fans, and service infrastructure such as bars and restaurants, service points, a medical center, and parking for 9,000 vehicles, among other changes.
Conmebol delegates authorized the Mangueiro stadium after inspecting all of the infrastructure on the site.
"The current management's decisions are solely aimed at providing the best technical and logistical conditions for the Brazilian National Team." Throughout this phase, we will look at concerns that we believe are important, such as player displacement, team wear and tear, shorter distances between match venues, and infrastructure that provides comfort and security to the entire delegation. Furthermore, a game will not be evaluated in isolation, but rather the best composition of a sequence of matches," stressed CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues.
