Officials say a male student shot two adult faculty members at a Denver high school.
According to Mayor Michael Hancock, a male student shot and wounded two adult faculty members at a Denver high school on Wednesday.
He stated that one is in surgery and the other is stable and able to talk about what happened.
In a tweet, Denver Police said they were responding to a shooting at East High School in Denver, Colorado.
"At this time, two adult victims have been located and transported to area hospitals. According to a subsequent Denver Police tweet, "it is believed the suspect is no longer on scene, and investigators are working to develop additional information."
According to a tweet from Denver Public Schools, the victims were two adult faculty members.
Once students have been "controlled released," school officials will implement a "controlled release" policy.
Students who drove themselves will be escorted to their cars, students who take the bus will be held on campus until their bus arrives, and students who are dropped off by a parent can be picked up at a different location, according to the tweet.
According to the school system, East High School has approximately 2,500 students in grades 9 through 12 and is the largest and highest-performing comprehensive high school of all Denver Public Schools.
The high school is located in Denver's City Park neighborhood and is a Denver Historic Landmark for its architecture in the Jacobethan Revival style. According to the school website, the clock tower atop the school is designed in the style of Philadelphia's Independence Hall.
